Dwain Murphy Biography
Dwain Murphy was born on the small Caribbean island of Dominica. Upon coming to Canada, Dwain found his acting calling and graduated from the Humber College Acting for Film and Television program. Dwain’s number one passion is acting and his roles can be seen in the movies Poor Boy’s Game and How She Move. His talent has also been featured on television with the role of Eric in DeGrassi: The Next Generation.
In Saving God, Dwain Murphy plays the role of Norris Johns, a young man that is associated with drug dealers. Locally raised as a Christian by his grandmother, Norris is torn between the evil of his illegal occupation and the unconditional love for his girlfriend, Ashley Ellis. Through a strange confrontation, Norris is introduced to Pastor Armstrong Cane (Ving Rhames) who helps Norris to search for the path of forgiveness and salvation.
Dwain Murphy currently resides in the Toronto, Ontario area. When time permits, Dwain’s love for basketball keeps him in shape and provides an emotional and physical release from his serious acting career. Upon discussing his role as Norris, Dwain is quoted “I was raised Catholic and without God blessing me in my life, I would be absolutely LOST!!!!! I also believe those who are fortunate enough to be more blessed than others, should help the less fortunate. I related deeply to this story and the character because I have actually gone through some of the obstacles that faced Norris”. |
